Leicester is Leicestershire's main employment centre — a city of about 360,000 in the East Midlands, ringed by the M1 and the A46. Most of the county's jobs sit here.

The professional-services cluster includes Mazars, Hazlewoods and Charles Stanley.

Recruitment-agency density is high. Most of the East Midlands branches of the big national firms cover Leicester, so the same job often shows up under three different agency badges. Transport: London St Pancras is an hour by train from Leicester station; Birmingham 40 minutes; Nottingham 25. The LE1-LE5 postcodes cover the city itself; LE19 is Fosse Park / Meridian; LE3 is the Enderby / Braunstone corridor where most of the warehouse and distribution jobs sit.
