  • Review and approve geotechnical interpretive reports, factual reports and design deliverables
  • Develop internal geotechnical design standards, processes and templates in line with quality and delivery requirements
  • Maintain knowledge of Eurocodes, UK geotechnical standards and sector-specific requirements, including Network Rail and National Highways standards
  • Manage subcontractors delivering site investigations, including scope preparation, procurement, supervision and quality control
  • Interpret borehole logs, trial pit logs, laboratory test results and in-situ testing data
  • Build client relationships, support tenders and bids, identify new opportunities and contribute to business development activity
  • Develop and mentor geotechnical engineers while collaborating with civils, M&E, structures and survey teams
  • Manage project budgets, fee recovery, subcontractor costs, resourcing plans and commercial reporting

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related geotechnical discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status with ICE, the Geological Society or an equivalent professional institution, or active progress towards chartership
  • Significant experience in geotechnical consultancy and UK infrastructure projects
  • Strong geotechnical design experience covering areas such as slope stability, earthworks, foundations, retaining structures and ground improvement
  • Experience across at least two infrastructure sectors, with rail experience including Network Rail standards, legacy Railtrack standards or GRIP considered advantageous
  • Experience managing subcontractors and ground investigation programmes, including specification, procurement and quality assurance
  • Client-facing experience with involvement in business development, account management, tenders or PQQ submissions
  • Commercial awareness, strong communication skills and the confidence to provide technical leadership
  • Ability to work collaboratively while operating independently and taking ownership of delivery
  • Full UK driving licence

Benefits:

  • Associate-level seniority with genuine influence over technical strategy and service development
  • Opportunity to establish and grow a geotechnical capability within an ambitious consultancy
  • Multi-disciplinary working alongside civils, M&E, structures and survey professionals
  • Direct access to senior leadership and involvement in wider business growth plans
  • Support for professional development, team building and career progression
  • Collaborative culture focused on accountability, innovation, delivery and continuous improvement
