About the Company
Our client is a leading independent British manufacturer of innovative fire, life safety and accessibility systems. With a strong reputation for quality and reliability, they are dedicated to delivering top-tier protection and life safety solutions across the UK.

About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of specification-led growth in territory for our client. If you know the market, have the relationships and want the freedom to turn your expertise into real commercial impact, this is a role where you can make a genuine difference.

We are looking for an ambitious, commercially driven Business Development / Specification Manager with strong, established relationships with consultants and specifiers across the South of the UK. You'll build on that network, get involved in major projects from the earliest stages and turn influence into specifications, opportunities and long-term business.

This is much more than a traditional sales role. You'll be a trusted technical and commercial partner to consultants, specifiers, fire engineers and key decision-makers, with the autonomy to develop your region with the backing of the company's experienced sales, marketing and technical teams.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Take ownership of specification-led growth across the South of the UK and build a strong pipeline of high-value opportunities.

  • Use your established consultant and specifier network to open doors, influence designs and secure specifications on major projects.

  • Create new opportunities with fire engineers, developers, councils, housing associations and other key stakeholders.

  • Get involved early, working from the initial RIBA stages through the Gateway Process and helping turn specifications into project wins.

  • Become a trusted source of technical guidance on relevant fire standards, legislation and solutions.

  • Play a significant role in growing the company's consultant and design support services.

  • Work closely with the sales, marketing and technical teams to maximise every opportunity and deliver sustainable, profitable growth.

  • Stay ahead of market developments, competitor activity and emerging opportunities.

Requirements

  • An established and active network of consultant and specifier relationships, and the credibility to turn those relationships into influence, specifications and major project opportunities.

  • A strong track record in fire and life safety systems and high-value integrated solutions.

  • Detailed knowledge of EN54 and relevant British Standards, including BS 5839, BS 8629, BS 7273-4, BS 8300, Approved Document B and other related documents/legislation.

  • Experience of working through RIBA stages.

  • Experience of the Gateway Process for high-risk buildings.

  • Strong commercial, organisational and relationship-management skills.

  • A good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.

  • A full UK driving licence.

Why Join?

This is a chance to join an established British manufacturer and make the region your own. Your experience, contacts and ideas will be valued, and you'll have the autonomy to pursue opportunities, shape relationships and directly influence growth.

You'll also have experienced technical and sales teams behind you, plus opportunities to keep developing your expertise through personal development and funded external training.

How to Apply
If you are a commercially driven Business Development / Specification Manager with a strong network and a passion for fire and life safety, we would like to hear from you. Please submit your CV today.
