Projects will vary in size and complexity across commercial, industrial and other building environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed building services layouts, drawings and design packages.
  • Interpret architectural drawings, technical specifications, site surveys and project information.
  • Coordinate building services drawings with mechanical, electrical, structural and architectural designs.
  • Identify potential design clashes and installation constraints, working with the project team to resolve them.
  • Develop drawings from initial design through to construction issue and as-built documentation.
  • Ensure drawings comply with company CAD standards, project requirements and relevant industry regulations.
  • Maintain accurate drawing registers, revisions and documentation within document management systems or Common Data Environments (CDE).
  • Support project managers, engineers and installation teams with drawing updates and technical information.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and contractors to support effective project delivery.
  • Undertake site visits where required to verify existing conditions and assist with design development.
  • Produce as-built drawings reflecting changes made during installation.
  • Contribute to improving CAD standards, drawing procedures and quality assurance processes.
  • Manage workloads effectively to meet project deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working as a CAD Technician, CAD Engineer or in a similar role within building services or the construction industry.
  • Strong AutoCAD skills and the ability to produce detailed technical drawings efficiently.
  • Experience interpreting architectural drawings, technical specifications and construction information.
  • A good understanding of building services installations and construction processes.
  • Experience coordinating drawings with other building disciplines.
  • A relevant technical qualification, such as a BTEC, HNC, HND or equivalent in building services engineering, engineering, construction or a related discipline.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality drawings.
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, clients and external contractors.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and resolving design and coordination issues.
  • An understanding of drawing standards, revision control and quality assurance procedures.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider project team.

Desirable Skills and Experience

Experience in mechanical, electrical or multidisciplinary building services design.

Previous experience working for a building services contractor or within an M&E environment.

Familiarity with Revit, Navisworks or other 3D modelling and coordination software.

Experience working within a BIM environment or Common Data Environment (CDE).

Experience producing installation drawings, schematic diagrams, builders' work drawings and technical details.

Experience preparing as-built drawings and project handover documentation.

An understanding of coordination between mechanical, electrical, structural and architectural services.

Experience liaising with engineers, project managers, consultants and site installation teams.

Key Personal Attributes

The successful candidate will be organised, technically minded and committed to delivering high-quality work. You will take ownership of your drawings, communicate effectively with colleagues and clients, and work proactively to resolve design and coordination issues.
