We're looking for an experienced Clean Water Process Design Engineer to provide process design input across clean water treatment works and associated assets. The focus is on producing high-quality design outputs, supporting project teams through design and delivery decisions, and attending site when needed to validate assumptions and support readiness/commissioning.
What you'll be doing
- Leading and delivering process design packages for clean water treatment works (new build, upgrades, optimisation).
- Developing and checking process calculations and selections, such as mass balances, treatment sizing, chemical dosing basis, contact time, filtration parameters, backwash strategies, disinfection approach, residuals interfaces, and operational envelopes.
- Producing and reviewing core process design deliverables, typically including Design Basis / Basis of Design, process calculations, PFDs, process descriptions, process narratives, and inputs to control philosophy.
- Working with mechanical, EICA, civil and commissioning teams to ensure the process intent is buildable, operable, maintainable, and correctly reflected through design.
- Supporting design risk activity (design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP) and managing actions through to close-out with practical design updates and clear audit trail.
- Providing technical support during site visits for surveys, constructability reviews, operator engagement, commissioning support, performance troubleshooting, and handover readiness.
What we need from you
- Proven process design experience in clean water treatment (WTW), ideally across several treatment stages (coagulation/flocculation, DAF, rapid gravity filtration, GAC, UV/chlorination, pH/alkalinity correction, etc. as applicable).
- Strong ability to produce clear, auditable process design calculations and written design basis documentation.
- Confident communicator who can explain process decisions simply to non-process stakeholders.
- Comfortable working remotely with planned UK site attendance when required.
- Full right to work in the UK.
