Job description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Machinist Setter/Operator to join a busy engineering and manufacturing environment in Barton-upon-Humber.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist with experience in CNC milling and turning, looking for a hands-on role working to high standards and tight tolerances.

The Role

You will be responsible for setting and operating CNC machinery, producing high-quality precision components from engineering drawings. The role will involve working with CNC lathes and milling machines, with the opportunity to gain experience on 5-axis machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Programming and setting CNC machinery
  • Operating CNC lathes and milling machines
  • Working from engineering drawings and specifications
  • Setting tools and checking machine settings
  • Producing first-off components and carrying out dimensional checks
  • Measuring components using precision inspection equipment
  • Maintaining high standards of quality throughout production
  • Loading and unloading CNC machinery as required
  • Supporting the wider engineering team with assembly and manufacturing tasks
  • Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment
  • Following all company health and safety procedures
  • Working effectively as part of a team to meet production requirements
Skills & Experience
  • Previous CNC milling and turning experience is essential
  • Experience setting and operating CNC machinery
  • Experience with Hurco machinery would be advantageous
  • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
  • Experience working to tight tolerances
  • CAM experience would be beneficial but is not essential
  • Strong hands-on engineering background
  • Good attention to detail and a quality-focused approach
  • Good understanding of health and safety
  • Able to plan and prioritise workload effectively
  • Reliable and able to work well as part of a team

Experience within automotive, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, or other precision/process manufacturing environments would be advantageous.
