Job description

Artisan are working with a growing Facilities Management company delivering Mechanical, Electrical, Fire & Security, Building and Specialist Services across the South of England.

The company works with schools, colleges, commercial properties and public sector clients, providing planned maintenance, reactive works and project delivery.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Gas & Mechanical Manager to lead their Mechanical Department.

The Role

This is a hands-on management position suited to an experienced Commercial Gas professional who has the technical knowledge and leadership skills to take ownership of a growing mechanical department.

Based primarily from the company's Gosport office, the role will involve regular site visits, client meetings and project surveys.

You will manage mechanical engineers and subcontractors, carry out site surveys, price remedial and project works, provide technical support and oversee projects from initial enquiry through to completion.

No two days will be the same. One day you could be pricing a plant room replacement, the next carrying out a site survey or supporting an engineer with a commercial heating fault.

The successful candidate will play an important role in helping the company continue to develop and grow its Mechanical Department.

  • Review RAMS, certification and compliance documentation.
  • Monitor project costs, labour and material expenditure.
  • Order materials and liaise with suppliers.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Identify additional works and commercial opportunities.
  • Ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Commercial Gas professional who can hit the ground running and take ownership of the department.

You should have:

  • Strong commercial gas experience.
  • Previous experience managing engineers and/or subcontractors.
  • Experience pricing commercial mechanical works.
  • Good knowledge of commercial heating systems, plant rooms and mechanical services.
  • The technical confidence to support engineers with complex issues.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • A full UK Driving Licence.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants should hold current Commercial Gas qualifications, including: CODNCO1, CIGA1, CORT1, CPN1, TPCP1, TPCP1A, CDGA1, CENWAT

Equivalent commercial gas qualifications will also be considered.

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 3 Plumbing & Heating or equivalent.
  • IOSH Managing Safely.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS.
  • Facilities Management experience.
  • Experience using Joblogic or another CAFM system.

What You'll Receive: £60,000 – £65,000 basic salary, Company vehicle, Company phone and laptop, 25 days annual leave + Bank Holidays, Company pension, Private healthcare (employee contribution required), Ongoing training and manufacturer courses, Career progression opportunities as the business continues to grow, Company social events.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Commercial Gas professional looking to take the next step into a senior management position within a growing Facilities Management business.

If you have the required Commercial Gas qualifications and experience, and you're looking for a role where you can take ownership, make a real impact and help shape the growth of a Mechanical Department, we'd like to hear from you.
