Cover Supervisor - Chesham, Buckinghamshire

Looking for your next opportunity in education? A secondary school in Chesham, Buckinghamshire is seeking a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to provide classroom cover when teachers are unavailable.

This is a role suited to someone who can take charge of a classroom, follow prepared lesson plans and maintain high expectations while ensuring pupils continue with their learning.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining continuity of learning across different classes and subjects. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Taking responsibility for classes across a variety of subjects and year groups.
• Delivering work and instructions provided by the class teacher.
• Setting clear expectations around behaviour, effort and conduct.
• Managing classroom behaviour calmly and consistently.
• Encouraging pupils to remain focused and complete the work provided.
• Providing appropriate guidance where pupils need clarification.
• Monitoring progress and highlighting any concerns to relevant staff.
• Providing feedback following lessons where required.
• Creating a classroom environment that is orderly, respectful and focused on learning.

What we're looking for...

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working with secondary-aged pupils and be comfortable managing a classroom independently.

Classroom confident - You can establish authority quickly while maintaining positive relationships with pupils.

Adaptable - You are comfortable moving between different subjects, year groups and classroom situations throughout the day.

Reliable and professional - You understand the importance of safeguarding, punctuality and representing the school positively.

A formal teaching qualification is not required, although previous experience within a secondary school, education setting or similar environment is essential.
