Job description

Role OverviewResponsible for supervising all lifting operations on site in accordance with BS 7121, LOLER 1998 and PUWER. You are the link between the Appointed Person's lift plan and the Slinger/Signaller and Crane Operator on the ground. You ensure every lift is executed safely and stops if it isn't.Key ResponsibilitiesLifting Operations:Supervise and coordinate all lifting operations in line with approved method statements and lift plansBrief crane operators, slinger/signallers (A40), and site teams before each lift - toolbox talks and pre-lift briefingsCarry out pre-lift checks - ground conditions, outrigger mats, exclusion zones, wind speed, crane configurationEnsure lifting accessories are suitable, certified, in-date and fit for purposeMonitor lifts to ensure compliance and stop operations if unsafe conditions ariseSafety & Compliance:Implement and enforce LOLER, PUWER, BS 7121, and site HSE proceduresConduct risk assessments and identify hazardsReport defects, near-misses, incidents to Appointed Person / Site Management immediatelyEnsure all lifting personnel hold valid CPCS/NPORS cards and are competent for the taskCoordination:Maintain clear radio / hand signal communication with all partiesCoordinate with other trades so lifting doesn't clash with other site activitiesAssist Appointed Person with reviewing lift plans for complex/critical liftsRequirements - Essential for UKValid CPCS A62 Crane Supervisor OR NPORS with CSCS hologramValid Slinger/Signaller (A40) ticket is highly desirableCSCS cardFull 5-point PPE, Safety Critical Medical in dateProven experience as Crane Supervisor on construction / civils / residentialStrong knowledge of lifting plans, load charts, dutiesRight to work in UK + 3-year checkable work history (DBS/EL1 if MoJ project)
