About DX
DX provides parcel freight, secure, courier and logistics services to businesses and residential customers across the UK and Ireland through DX Freight, DX Express and DX Logistics. Our approach is straightforward: Deliver Exactly to our customers’ requirements. Our people are central to making that happen.
The role
- Act as DX’s appointed DGSA, advising on ADR, UK dangerous goods legislation and practical operational controls.
- Carry out site audits, inspections and assurance reviews throughout the network, helping teams identify and manage dangerous goods risks.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures and guidance covering classification, packaging, marking, labelling, segregation, documentation and transport requirements.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes and monitor corrective actions.
- Prepare statutory DGSA annual reports and provide management with clear compliance insights and assurance.
- Support customers, regulators and external auditors, and advise on new dangerous goods services and operational processes.
- Work with SHE, Operations and Training colleagues to develop awareness and competency programmes and respond to legislative developments.
What you’ll bring
- A valid Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser qualification for road transport (ADR).
- At least three years’ experience in a DGSA, dangerous goods compliance or operational dangerous goods management role.
- Strong working knowledge of ADR and UK Carriage of Dangerous Goods legislation, including classification, packaging, marking, labelling and documentation requirements.
- Experience of audits, inspections, incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
- A background supporting operational teams in logistics, transport, freight, distribution or supply chain environments.
- The ability to translate legislation into workable controls, analyse compliance trends and present clear reports to management.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with a pragmatic, organised approach and the confidence to influence operational leaders.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the DX network.
Experience with the IMDG Code, IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, dangerous goods warehousing and storage, multi-site logistics operations or regulatory inspections would be advantageous, as would a qualification or experience in Health, Safety and Environmental management.
Working arrangements
This is a national role involving site visits across the DX network. You’ll generally work normal business hours, with occasional flexibility required outside these hours to support operational activities, investigations and urgent compliance matters.
