Electrical Engineer
Location: Nottingham
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 DOE
The Company
A leading manufacturer of specialist testing equipment is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join its engineering team. The business designs and manufactures bespoke machinery used by universities and research facilities worldwide, with products supplied to over 75 countries.
With in-house design, manufacturing and testing capabilities, the company produces a wide variety of equipment, incorporating electrical control systems, motors, pumps, sensors and instrumentation. Every project brings different technical requirements, making this an interesting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys variety and practical problem-solving.
With around 90 employees, the business offers a friendly, collaborative working environment where engineers work closely with production and other departments. Having recently become employee-owned, the company continues to develop its business while maintaining a hands-on engineering culture.
The Role
As an Electrical Engineer, you will provide electrical design and technical support across existing products, working closely with production, purchasing, service and sales. This is a practical, production-focused position rather than a product development role, with responsibility for maintaining and updating electrical drawings, selecting components and resolving technical issues.
You'll work with a variety of electrical systems, including motors, pumps, PCBs, pressure sensors, transducers and control panels, ensuring components are correctly connected, protected and documented.
This is a predominantly office-based role, with regular visits to the shop floor to understand the equipment, support manufacturing and see your work put into practice. You'll be one of only two Electrical Engineers in the business, giving you the opportunity to take ownership of your work and make a direct contribution to the company's operations.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
What We're Looking For
Experience with OrCAD Electrical would be beneficial, although training on the software can be picked up by someone with the right electrical design background. Familiarity with VFDs, PCB connections, instrumentation, ERP or MRP systems such as SAP would also be advantageous.
Experience working with different international electrical standards, voltages and connection requirements would be particularly useful, given the company's global customer base.
