Electrical Engineer – Coventry – Full-Time - On going TEMP
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a leading global facilities management provider, working within a critical environment in Coventry. This is a fantastic role for an Electrical Engineer looking to develop their career within a technically demanding and highly regarded site.
Role: Electrical Engineer
Hours: 7:30am – 4:30pm
Location: Coventry
The successful Electrical Engineer will be responsible for installing and maintaining new plant and equipment, ensuring that plant faults and defects are swiftly rectified within a critical environment.
Key responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer role include:
- Reacting to breakdown maintenance requests within required SLAs
- Applying technical awareness of computer room/call centre/trader operations, including power, UPS, CPS, distribution, and cooling systems
- Carrying out repairs to modular UPS systems
- Testing and diagnosing power quality issues, including harmonic distortion, using onsite power analysers
- Applying a risk-focused maintenance approach to plant and systems within data centres/critical environments
- Providing emergency response, standby, and call-out cover
- Escalating urgent issues to the Technical Services Manager
- Responding to work interruptions, outages, or emergencies in line with SLA requirements
- Ensuring all critical engineering maintenance documentation and records are kept up to date
- Advising the Facilities Management Team of changes in critical environment requirements
- Undertaking site surveys and producing Works Requests, Method Statements, and Risk Assessments for planned works
- Undertaking upgrade and install work
- Interpreting technical drawings, instructions, processes, and O&Ms
- Ensuring completion of all reactive helpdesk requests
- Monitoring and analysing environmental conditions and reviewing the loading/working conditions of critical equipment
- Completing incident reports for abnormal incidents affecting systems availability, determining root cause and preventative actions
- Entering relevant quotes and remedial works onto the in-house system
What we're looking for:
Essential for this Electrical Engineer position is 18th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations qualification.
Desirable experience includes: building management systems (fault finding and operator use), VAV/FCU systems, chilled water circuits and chilled beams, HVAC systems, CDM process understanding, and testing/inspection of electrical systems. Strong communication and customer service skills are important, along with the ability to self-organise and manage assigned tasks. Experience of H&S procedures (COSHH, Working at Heights, Risk Assessments) is advantageous, along with IOSH and/or NEBOSH qualifications. Knowledge of emergency response protocols, Authorised Person status (e.g. AP15/12), and water hygiene (L8) would also be beneficial.
