English Tutor - Wigan

Location: Wigan
Hours: 5-10 hours per week
Start Date: October 2026
Duration: Ongoing

We are seeking a confident English Tutor to provide personalised 1:1 tuition to a learner in Wigan.

The role would suit an experienced educator who can make English engaging and accessible while supporting the learner to develop their literacy, confidence and independent learning skills.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver individualised English tuition
Support reading, writing and comprehension
Identify gaps in literacy and subject knowledge
Plan engaging and appropriately challenging sessions
Adapt resources to learner ability
Encourage participation and confidence
Review and communicate learner progress

Requirements
Strong English subject knowledge
Previous teaching or tutoring experience
Experience working with children or young people
Good understanding of the secondary curriculum desirable
Flexible and supportive teaching style
Excellent communication skills
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
Right to Work in the UK
Two professional child-related references
