Tarmac
Our Tarmac Land and Natural Resources team are recruiting an Environmental Graduate to join our 2027 Cohort starting in September 2027. The Graduate Programme includes the opportunity to join our Land & Natural Resources Team based out of our Mountsorrel (Loughborough) Office.
Working as an Environmental Graduate within the Land & Natural Resources (L&NR) team, you will play an important role in supporting Tarmac's commitment to responsible land stewardship, environmental compliance, biodiversity enhancement and sustainable development.
The role will provide exposure to a diverse range of environmental and land management activities across Tarmac's operational estate. Through a structured graduate development programme, you will gain practical experience supporting environmental permitting and planning activities, assessments, planning and permitting activities, environmental management systems, restoration projects and sustainability initiatives, while working towards building a successful career within the environmental profession.
As part of the graduate programme, you will receive ongoing support, mentoring and development opportunities, enabling you to broaden your technical knowledge, professional skills and understanding of the wider business.
L&NR Context
The Land & Natural Resources team is responsible for managing Tarmac's extensive land portfolio and ensuring land and mineral resources are managed responsibly, sustainably restored and maintained for the benefit of the business, local communities and biodiversity.
The team works across asset management, strategic planning, land development and environmental disciplines to support operational activities, secure future mineral reserves, deliver planning/environmental permit consents and ensure long-term stewardship of land assets.
As an Environmental Graduate, you will work alongside environmental specialists, planners, surveyors and operational teams, helping to ensure environmental performance remains at the forefront of decision-making while supporting Tarmac's sustainability ambitions and commitment to creating a more sustainable future.
Your Development
As part of the graduate rotation programme, you’ll gain hands-on experience across key areas of Land & Natural Resources (L&NR), including Asset Management, Strategic Planning, and Land Development. This structured rotation is designed to give you a well-rounded and practical foundation, helping you build the skills, insight, and confidence needed to launch a successful career in surveying. You’ll also receive dedicated support as you work towards your RICS APC accreditation, guided by our Tarmac-led APC Forum.
During the two-year graduate role, you will have the opportunity to rotate around the different charters within L&NR to ensure you build a broad experience across the disciplines. This will include a placement in Asset Management, Strategic Planning and Land Development.
As part of your graduate journey, you’ll take part in our Core Skills Graduate Development Programme- a structured series of modules delivered over two years. This programme is designed to build your business acumen, enhance your soft skills, and create valuable networking opportunities to support your transition into your destination role.
