Estimator / QS (Construction/Fire Protection)

Job Description:

Our client is looking to appoint an Estimator / Quantity Surveyor in a commercially focused hybrid role offering the opportunity to be involved cradle to grave commercially — from initial pricing and tender support through to securing projects and managing applications for payment.

This role would suit either an estimator with QS exposure or a QS keen to develop stronger estimating capabilities within a supportive commercial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing cost estimates and pricing submissions

• Supporting tenders through to successful project award

• Commercial management post-award, including applications for payment

• Liaising with subcontractors and project stakeholders

• Following up on outstanding payments and resolving commercial issues

• Supporting overall commercial lifecycle of projects

Ideal candidate profile

• Minimum 5 years’ construction industry experience

• Strong general construction knowledge (fire sector experience not essential)

• Comfortable across both estimating and commercial/QS responsibilities

• Confident communicator, particularly when chasing payments or negotiating commercially

• Well-rounded industry background — strong subcontractor or main contractor experience welcomed
