Evening Shift Supervisor including Shunting
Location: Tottenham, North London
Salary: £37,000 - £40,000 per annum (£17 per hour to £19 per hour)
Contract: Temp to Perm
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00pm - 3:00am
About the Company Our client is a well-established and rapidly growing business operating within the packaging and distribution sector. Supplying high-quality packaging solutions to a wide range of industries across the UK, they have built a strong reputation for reliability, operational excellence, and customer service. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an Evening Shift Supervisor / Shunter to lead their night operations team.
The Role This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong leadership skills, ideally from a warehouse, transport, logistics, manufacturing, or shunting background. You will be responsible for overseeing the smooth running of the evening operation, managing a team of 11 employees, and ensuring all processes and deadlines are achieved safely and efficiently.
The successful candidate will act as the main point of contact during the evening shift, providing guidance, support, and leadership whilst maintaining a positive and productive working environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise a team of 11 employees during the evening shift.
- Ensure all operational activities are completed safely, efficiently, and on time.
- Coordinate and oversee daily shunting and yard activities where required.
- Monitor productivity and performance across the shift.
- Support and motivate team members to achieve operational targets.
- Ensure all company procedures and compliance requirements are followed.
- Maintain accurate records and complete administration tasks using various computer systems.
- Liaise with management and other departments to ensure a smooth handover between shifts.
- Identify and resolve operational issues promptly and effectively.
- Promote a positive team culture and maintain high standards of customer service.
Candidate Requirements- Previous experience in a supervisory, team leader, or management position.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Computer literate with the ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
- A proactive and hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience within logistics, warehousing, transport, distribution, manufacturing, or shunting operations would be advantageous.
- A genuine team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
