Fabricator - Winkleigh, Devon
£23 - £25 per hour + Overtime + Annual Bonus

The Opportunity

We’re working with a highly successful and growing construction and manufacturing specialist to recruit an experienced Fabricator for their operation in Winkleigh, Devon.

The business designs, manufactures and installs complex stainless steel structures and components for major food manufacturing facilities across the region.

And they’re growing.

With a brand-new manufacturing hub under development, a strong secured workload and a number of recent contract wins, they’re now looking for an experienced fabricator who can combine first-class workmanship with the ability to lead from the front.
This is a hands-on position with real responsibility, excellent earning potential and the security of joining a business with plenty of work ahead of it.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll take the lead within the fabrication workshop, remaining firmly hands-on while coordinating and supporting apprentices, operatives and subcontract labour.
You’ll be responsible for delivering complex stainless steel fabrication to exacting standards, helping organise workload and resources while ensuring quality remains where it should be.

Day to day, you’ll be:

• Reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints and work orders
• Cutting, shaping and forming stainless steel using workshop machinery
• Carrying out high-quality MIG and TIG welding
• Fabricating and assembling complex stainless steel components
• Checking materials and finished products against drawings and specifications
• Coordinating and supervising apprentices, operatives and subcontractors
• Planning labour and allocating time against individual projects
• Working closely with designers and project managers to keep projects moving
• Identifying and rectifying defects where required
• Maintaining equipment and high standards of workshop safety and housekeeping
• Leading by example when it comes to quality, attitude and workmanship

This isn’t a clipboard-and-point role. You’ll be on the tools, setting the standard and helping the team deliver.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced fabricator who knows their craft and takes genuine pride in producing quality work.

You’ll need:

• Strong experience within fabrication or manufacturing
• Excellent MIG and TIG welding skills
• Proven experience working with stainless steel
• Confidence reading and working from technical drawings
• Strong attention to detail and pride in your workmanship
• The ability to organise and support others within a workshop environment
• A positive, professional and dependable approach
• A strong understanding of safe working practices

Experience within food production, hygienic manufacturing or similarly regulated environments would be particularly useful, although it isn’t essential.
IPAF, Forklift or Telehandler certification would also be advantageous.
