Handyman / Facilities Maintenance Operative

Location: Leicestershire
Salary: £40,000 per annum (pro rata)
Hours: Part-Time – 3 Days Per Week
Job Type: Permanent

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a practical, reliable and hands-on Handyman / Facilities Maintenance Operative to join an established business based in Leicestershire.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional or skilled all-rounder who enjoys carrying out general repairs, preventative maintenance and day-to-day facilities tasks.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the site remains safe, presentable and well maintained, completing smaller maintenance jobs internally and reducing the need for external contractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general building maintenance, repairs and upkeep across the site.

• Undertake basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, decorating and general handyman duties.

• Identify and resolve minor maintenance issues efficiently.

• Complete planned preventative maintenance and routine site inspections.

• Carry out minor repairs to fixtures, fittings, doors and other building facilities.

• Respond to day-to-day maintenance requests from staff and management.

• Maintain a safe, clean and well-organised working environment.

• Identify larger maintenance issues requiring specialist contractors.

• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety procedures.

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience in a Handyman, Maintenance Operative, Facilities Assistant or similar role.

• Good general knowledge of building maintenance and repairs.

• Practical skills across multiple trades, including basic plumbing, carpentry and decorating.

• Ability to diagnose problems and complete repairs independently.

• A proactive, resourceful and flexible approach to work.

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.

• Reliable, trustworthy and able to work with minimal supervision.

• A positive, hands-on attitude and willingness to undertake a variety of tasks.
