Make a Real Difference in the Lives of Children and Families

Are you passionate about supporting children and helping families thrive? Do you have experience working with children, young people, or families and want a role where you can make a lasting impact?

Adoption@Heart, the Regional Adoption Agency for Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley and Sandwell, is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Agency Family Support Worker to join our team.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work directly with children, young people, adoptive families, and birth families, providing vital support throughout their adoption journey. Every day brings the chance to help children build positive futures and support families through life-changing experiences.

About the Role

As an Agency Family Support Worker, you will play a key role in delivering practical and emotional support to children and families. Working as part of a supportive and experienced team, you will help children prepare for adoption, facilitate family contact arrangements, undertake life story work, and contribute to meaningful support plans that improve outcomes for children and families.

You will work across a range of settings, including family homes, community locations, offices, and group environments, building positive relationships and helping families navigate their adoption journey with confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to children, young people, adoptive families, and birth families.
  • Prepare children for adoption and support them through transition arrangements.
  • Undertake life story work and create high-quality Life Story Books.
  • Support post-adoption contact arrangements, including Letterbox and direct contact sessions.
  • Plan, facilitate, and supervise individual and group support sessions.
  • Contribute to assessments of adoption support needs and help develop support plans.
  • Deliver support groups, training workshops, and family-focused interventions.
  • Work closely with social workers, schools, health professionals, and other partner agencies.
  • Maintain accurate records, case notes, and written reports, including court statements where required.
  • Attend professional meetings and contribute to multi-agency planning and decision-making.
  • Support service development and continuous improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone who can demonstrate:

  • Experience working with children, young people, and families.
  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to work sensitively with families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Confidence in recording information accurately and producing written reports.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to supporting service needs.
  • An understanding of safeguarding, child-centred practice, and professional boundaries.

Why Join Adoption@Heart?

At Adoption@Heart, children and families are at the centre of everything we do. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a service that genuinely changes lives and supports children in achieving the best possible outcomes.

In return, you'll benefit from:

  • Flexible hybrid working arrangements.
  • Meaningful and rewarding work with children and families.
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment.
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • The chance to contribute to a respected regional adoption service.
  • A varied role where no two days are the same.
