Fire and Security Engineer – Up to £35,000 + Benefits

Fire and Security Engineer Overview:

The successful candidate will ideally have experience across all four disciplines: fire alarms, CCTV, intruder alarms and access control. However, candidates with experience in three out of the four disciplines will also be considered.

With a competitive basic salary of up to £35,000, plus additional payments that average around £6,000 per year, this role offers excellent earning potential. Engineers can increase their earnings further by taking on additional overtime and call-out duties.

There is also flexibility around company vehicle use, with engineers able to choose whether their vehicle is for business use only or for both business and personal use.

Fire and Security Engineer Role & Responsibilities:

Reporting to the relevant management team, you will be responsible for installing, servicing, maintaining and fault-finding across a range of fire and security systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Installing, servicing and maintaining fire alarm systems.
• Installing, maintaining and repairing CCTV systems.
• Working on intruder alarm systems, including fault-finding and repairs.
• Installing and maintaining access control systems.
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out remedial works efficiently.
• Completing service reports, job sheets and relevant system documentation.
• Identifying opportunities for system upgrades, modifications and additional works.
• Providing a professional and reliable service to customers.
• Maintaining high standards of health and safety, workmanship and customer service.
• Participating in standby and call-out rotas, with additional earning opportunities available.

Fire and Security Engineer Skills & Experience Required:

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

• Proven experience in fire and security installation, servicing or maintenance.
• Experience in fire alarms, CCTV, intruder alarms and access control, ideally across all four disciplines.
• Candidates experienced in three out of the four disciplines will also be considered.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• A full UK driving licence.

Salary & Additional Earning Potential:

The basic salary is up to £35,000, depending on experience, with additional payments available on top.

• Travel time: Monday to Friday, paid at basic rates, with the first and last 30 minutes deducted each working day. Weekend travel is paid at 1.5 times the basic rate.
• Standby allowances: £30 per weekday standby period and £45 per weekend day outside the South East. In the South East, these increase to £40 per weekday standby period and £55 per weekend day.
• Overtime: Additional on-site hours above 40 hours per week are paid at 1.5 times the basic rate.
• Commission: Additional earnings are available for upselling and system modifications.

These additional payments average approximately £6,000 per year, although the amount earned will depend on the work undertaken and the overtime or call-outs accepted.
