Job Description:

General Cover Teacher - Leicester

Location: Leicester
Contract: Day-to-day, short-term and ongoing supply
Pay: £95 - £120 a day
Start date: ASAP

As a General Cover Teacher, you will supervise classes during the short-term absence of the regular teacher. Work will usually be set in advance, enabling you to focus on delivering instructions clearly, maintaining a positive learning environment and supporting pupils to complete their work.

• Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects and year groups.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with each school's policies.
• Ensure pupils remain engaged, productive and safe throughout the lesson.
• Provide clear feedback to the school on pupil progress and any issues arising.
• Adapt confidently to different school settings, routines and expectations.
• Carry out reasonable duties that support the smooth running of the school day.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is welcomed, although applications from experienced cover supervisors and instructors will also be considered.
• Strong classroom and behaviour-management skills.
• A calm, professional and flexible approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Recent experience in a UK secondary school is desirable.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
