Geotechnical Engineer

Location: Leicester
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

We're looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join a multidisciplinary engineering team in Leicester, working on a range of building, infrastructure and civil engineering projects.

This is a good opportunity for someone with a few years of design experience who wants to build on their technical knowledge, take on more responsibility and work alongside engineers from different disciplines on a varied project portfolio.

• Carry out geotechnical design and calculations for foundations, retaining walls, earthworks and slope stability.
• Review ground investigation reports and interpret geotechnical data to inform design decisions.
• Prepare technical reports, design calculations, specifications and other project documentation.
• Support projects through feasibility, concept and detailed design stages.
• Assess ground conditions and identify potential geotechnical risks, recommending suitable solutions.
• Work closely with civil, structural and other engineering teams to coordinate designs.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and ground investigation specialists throughout project delivery.
• Provide technical support during construction and assist with resolving site-related engineering issues.
• Ensure designs meet relevant standards, project requirements and health and safety considerations.

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Around 3-5 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience, ideally within a consultancy environment.
• Experience in geotechnical design, including foundations, retaining structures or earthworks.
• Good understanding of soil mechanics, ground investigation and relevant design standards.
• Familiarity with geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GEO5 or similar packages would be beneficial.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with good written and verbal communication.
• Comfortable working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and managing competing deadlines.
