Eton College
Eton College has an exciting opportunity for six Graduate Teachers to join the College on a two- year fixed term contract starting in September 2027.
There are six places each year and subject availability varies. This year, we are able to support Graduate Teachers in the following departments: Chemistry, Computer Science, Design, Divinity, English, Geography, Mathematics and Physics.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Teacher of Divinity who will be excited to join a dynamic and successful academic department. Our Divinity Department is an energetic and dedicated team of informed and passionate subject specialists. The department operates a collegiate, open-door culture with regular sharing of ideas, enthusiasm and expertise. We are embracing innovations in teaching and learning, particularly developing the use of technology in the classroom. The department benefits from a well-resourced new building, a strong culture of academic prizes and independent work and various exciting academic enrichment opportunities. We contribute significantly to the school’s Partnerships programme. Divinity is a high profile and well-respected subject within the school. All pupils take up Divinity in year 9, where they study philosophy, ethics, and sacred texts. More than half the year group will then continue with Divinity for GCSE (EDUQAS Religious Studies). Around 140 pupils undertake Theology (OCR Religious Studies) in the sixth form where results are typically above the school average. In 2022, 97% of candidates were awarded a grade 9 or 8 at GCSE and 44% achieved A* at A-Level. A number of popular philosophy and theology-related enrichment courses are also taught across the school. Degree courses that include Theology and Philosophy are popular amongst pupils. The depth of experience and expertise within our Divinity department means that we are well equipped and excited to be developing and supporting recent graduates into the profession.
Eton is committed to the development of excellent teachers. Our Graduate Teacher Programme provides the opportunity for six graduates each year to begin their professional journey in teaching by immersing themselves in a full-boarding environment for two years. The programme offers structured, wide-ranging and personalised training, development and mentorship. It embodies Eton’s holistic vision of education, providing extensive experience and skills development within the three intersecting spheres of school life: academic, pastoral and co-curricular.
Across the two years of the programme our Graduate Teachers will build the foundations for a successful and fulfilling career in teaching.
In addition to the above, in order to enrol on the QTS Apprenticeship Route with PGCE, you will need to demonstrate that you hold the right to work and study in the UK and have been normally resident in the UK/EEA for the last three years.
