Head of Maths (Maternity Cover) Prep School

Academics are delighted to be supporting a highly regarded Prep School in Sevenoaks, with whom we work very closely, in the appointment of a Head of Mathematics for maternity cover from January 2027.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Mathematics teacher to lead a successful department across Upper KS2 and KS3, while continuing to inspire pupils and promote high standards of teaching and learning.

The role will include:

• Leading and developing the Mathematics Department.
• Overseeing curriculum planning, schemes of work and assessment.
• Supporting and developing departmental staff.
• Monitoring pupil progress and using data effectively.
• Preparing pupils for external assessments and senior school destinations, including scholarships.
• Liaising with the Pre-Prep to ensure strong curriculum continuity.
• Contributing to the wider academic and pastoral life of the school.
• Teaching Mathematics across Upper KS2 and KS3.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong Mathematics teaching experience, ideally within a Prep/independent school setting.
• Previous leadership or departmental responsibility.
• High expectations and a passion for excellent teaching.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
• Enthusiasm for contributing fully to a busy Prep School community.

Start date: January 2027 | 4 days per week

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
