HGV Class 2 Cylinder Driver

Job description

Pertemps are currently recruiting for a professional and reliable HGV Class 2 Cylinder Driver to join BOC Gases in Immingham on a permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Class 2 driver looking for a stable, long-term career with one of the UK and Ireland’s leading providers of industrial, medical and specialist gases.

You will be responsible for completing scheduled multi-drop deliveries and collections of gas cylinders to customers across the region, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance and customer service.
 
What will I be paid?

• £46,000 to £56,000 per annum.
• Based on an average 46-hour working week

 
What hours will I be working?

• Monday to Friday
• Typical start times between 06:00 – 07:00
• Shifts generally around 8–10 hours
• Occasional weekend working may be required

 
What will I be doing?

• Completing approximately 15–20 cylinder deliveries per day
• Delivering and collecting gas cylinders from customer sites
• Carrying out daily pre-use vehicle and equipment inspections
• Ensuring your vehicle remains roadworthy, clean and safe
• Safely loading, securing and unloading cylinders
• Using safe manual-handling techniques when delivering and collecting cylinders
• Operating specialist equipment such as forklifts or cranes where trained and required
• Completing delivery documentation, tachograph records and relevant paperwork accurately
• Following defensive driving techniques and all applicable driver regulations
• Providing a professional service when dealing with customers
• Adhering to strict Health & Safety procedures at all times

What do I need?

• Valid HGV/LGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
• 2 years experience required for insurance purposes
• Valid Driver CPC
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card
• ADR Class 2 – Gases in Packages is desirable, with training available where appropriate
• Maximum 3 penalty points for minor offences
• Good understanding of drivers' hours and commercial driving regulations
• FLT experience would be advantageous, although training can be provided
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Comfortable with the physical handling of gas cylinders
• Strong commitment to Health & Safety
• Willing to complete a driving assessment, DBS check and Drug & Alcohol test

Immingham, Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Scunthorpe, Barton-upon-Humber, Hull and surrounding areas.
