HGV Breakdown Technician – Stoke Hours: Rotating shifts
Week 1: 06:00 – 14:30
Week 2: 14:00 – 22:30 (42.5 hours per week)
On-call and standby rota – 1 in 4 weekends
Full time, permanent
Earning Potential – Salary: £47,073 per annum basic
Standby: £25 per day/night
Call-out: £15 per call plus overtime at 1.5x hourly rate (minimum 2 hours paid, even if job ends sooner)

£52,000 – £58,000+OverviewWe're looking for an HGV Breakdown Technician to join a well-established commercial vehicle specialist in Stoke. This is a proper breakdown role with a rotating shift pattern, standby payments, and call-out rates on top of a strong basic. Key Responsibilities- Responding to breakdowns and carrying out roadside repairs
- Performing major and minor repairs to HGVs and commercial vehicles
- Regular inspection and general preventive maintenance services
- Diagnosing faults and completing repairs to manufacturer and DVSA standards
- Maintaining workshop inventory and cleanliness
- Working with repair teams to diagnose and plan vehicle repairs
- Completing job cards and service records accurately
What You'll Need- Level 3 qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, or IMI) in HGV Vehicle Repair and Maintenance (essential)
- Proven experience as an HGV Technician
- Ability to identify worn and faulty components in accordance with DVSA Standards
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Full, current UK driving licence – HGV licence beneficial but not essential
