HGV Technician

Job description

Elevation Recruitment Group's Engineering Services Division are supporting an established values driven global supplier with the recruitment of a talented multi-skilled HGV Technician at their Fleet Maintenance Workshop in Middlesbrough. 

The HGV Technician will work within a thriving, supportive team responsible for servicing and maintaining the HGV Fleet, which is critical to the company's day-to-day transport operations.


Responsibilities for the HGV Technician include:

• Maintaining and repairing the vehicle and trailer fleet
• Planned and defect maintenance activities
• Scheduled safety inspections
• Coordinating with contractors for specialist services such as tyre replacement, windscreen repairs, auto electrical work, and major vehicle repairs when required

Skills, experience and qualifications for the HGV Technician include:

• Time-served HGV Technician with NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualifications
• Proven experience in fleet maintenance 
• Skilled in scheduled servicing, safety inspections, diagnostics, and defect rectification of ADR vehicles and trailers
• Strong technical problem-solving skills and capability to plan and manage allocated workload efficiently
• Computer literacy, including proficiency in Windows, Outlook, SAP, and diagnostic platforms such as DAFcheck & Truckcheck
• Practical knowledge of using specialist diagnostic equipment for fault identification and repair
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate well within a small supportive team
