HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic
Location: Nottingham
Salary: £38,000-£45,000 per annum
Shifts: Rotating early and late shifts - 06:00-14:30 / 13:30-22:00

Platinum Recruitment is recruiting an HGV Technician or HGV Mechanic to support the maintenance and repair of a busy commercial vehicle fleet. If you have experience as an HGV Fitter, Commercial Vehicle Technician, Truck Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Technician, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

As an HGV Technician or HGV Mechanic, you will use your technical knowledge to maintain fleet standards and minimise vehicle downtime. Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out HGV servicing, preventative maintenance and vehicle repairs.

• Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.

• Inspecting brakes, suspension, steering, engines and transmission systems.

• Supporting vehicle inspections, MOT preparation and rectification work.

• Identifying recurring defects and ensuring faults are properly resolved.

• Completing accurate service records, job cards and maintenance reports.

• Working with fleet colleagues and external repair providers to coordinate maintenance.

• Maintaining high standards of vehicle safety, roadworthiness and repair quality.

What we're looking for

You'll ideally be a fully qualified HGV Technician or HGV Mechanic with at least five years' relevant experience in heavy goods vehicle maintenance and repair.

You will also bring:

• A recognised qualification in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair, or equivalent relevant experience.

• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

• A good understanding of commercial vehicle servicing and preventative maintenance.

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Attention to detail and a commitment to completing repairs correctly.

• Confidence using diagnostic equipment, maintenance systems and digital job records.

• Clear communication skills and a positive, practical attitude.

Working hours

Weekly rotating early and late shifts:

• Week 1 - Early shift: 06:00-14:30.

• Week 2 - Late shift: 13:30-22:00.

Flexibility is also required to support out-of-hours breakdown cover and the Saturday rota, currently around one Saturday per quarter.
