Overview
A dedicated and professional Structures Inspector - Highways is sought to join the team. Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the Structures Inspector will include:
- Conducting inspections of diverse structures across the UK in accordance with technical standards and specifications.
- Leading the safe and effective execution of structural inspections, investigations, and surveys.
- Producing detailed inspection reports, including drawings created through CAD software.
- Ensuring timely and safe completion of assigned tasks.
- Adhering to current Health and Safety legislation and contributing to the company's goal of achieving zero accidents.
- Ensuring all equipment, including personal protective equipment, is safe, functional, and appropriately safety-checked prior to use.
- Supporting additional duties relevant to the scope and purpose of the role as required.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Possession of a BICS certification (or be in the process of acquiring it).
- Holding a valid CSCS card.
- Confined Space Entry certification (desirable but not mandatory).
- Previous experience in highway inspections, covering bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and ancillary structures.
- Educational background to at least Level 3 (A Level or equivalent).
- The flexibility to undertake travel and work night shifts or weekends when necessary.
- A full UK driving licence.
Day-to-Day
Typical daily activities will involve:
- Collaborating with colleagues to conduct inspections of highway infrastructure, including occasional night and weekend work.
- Preparing and submitting detailed reports following inspections.
- Ensuring adherence to safety policies and maintaining equipment readiness.
- Occasionally carrying out independent work on specific projects.
