Up to £38,000 DOE + benefits, including CIPD study support
Permanent & Full Time
We are exclusively working with a growing, fast-paced business in Nottingham to recruit a brand-new HR Generalist/Advisor. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who has built strong HR foundations but is now looking for more autonomy, variety and the opportunity to really make an impact.
This isn't a traditional HR Advisor role within a wider People team. This sits mainly standalone in an SME, taking real ownership across the people agenda, working with plenty of autonomy across generalist HR, talent acquisition, employee development and performance. With plans for further growth, you'll play an important role in bringing structure and consistency to how the business attracts, develops and manages its people, while having the freedom to spot what could work better and make it happen.
You won't be expected to know everything from day one. What matters more is that you're proactive, commercially minded and confident enough to find solutions, make things happen and build great relationships across the business.
What will you get involved in?
- Taking ownership of day-to-day HR and becoming a trusted point of contact for managers across the business.
- Driving recruitment activity for a number of upcoming hires and creating better, more structured hiring processes.
- Coaching managers to become better at interviewing, managing and developing their teams.
- Helping shape career development and progression, particularly around how employees move through the business.
- Improving performance management, including better 1:1s, feedback and development conversations.
- Identifying learning and development needs and helping turn these into practical solutions.
- Supporting employee relations matters, with external employment law expertise available when needed.
- Reviewing existing HR processes and spotting opportunities to make things simpler and more effective.
- Working closely with senior stakeholders, bringing ideas to the table and confidently challenging where needed.
- Helping create an engaging and connected culture across a workforce that operates across different locations.
About you
This could be a fantastic next step for an ambitious HR Advisor, People Advisor or HR Generalist who knows they are capable of more and wants a role that gives them the space to prove it. You'll need good generalist HR experience alongside some exposure to recruitment/talent acquisition and employee development. You absolutely do not need to be a specialist in everything - breadth, potential and attitude are much more important.
Personality will be a huge part of the fit. We're looking for someone engaging, energetic, organised and solutions-focused; someone who can work autonomously, build credibility with senior stakeholders and isn't afraid to challenge, push things forward and get decisions made.
A CIPD qualification would be beneficial but isn't essential. If you're still developing professionally, the business is also happy to support further CIPD study for the right person.
