HR Business Partner (Leicester)

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours Per Week: 37.5

Leicester City Football Club is entering an exciting chapter, and we’re looking for an HR Business Partner who can help shape a modern, people-first approach across the Club. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy building strong relationships with stakeholders, and take pride in delivering clear, practical HR solutions, we’d love to hear from you.

Leicester City Football Club boasts one of the richest and more storied histories in English football, in which every major honour in English football has been won across an incredible 140 years. That heritage matters, but so does what we create next. This is a role where your work will directly support the people who turn ambition into performance, day in and day out.

What you’ll do

As our HR Business Partner, you’ll operate as a trusted advisor across the Club, translating business needs into effective HR strategy and day-to-day practical support. You’ll bring clarity to complex people issues, influence leaders with evidence-based guidance, and ensure our employment practices are consistent, fair, and well managed.

Business partnering: Build close working relationships with Heads of Department and managers to understand priorities, team structures, and workforce planning requirements.
HR strategy & delivery: Contribute to the planning and implementation of HR initiatives - turning policy and strategy into action.
Employee relations: Support managers with complex case management, performance and conduct matters, absence management, and respectful, compliant outcomes.
Coaching & guidance: Provide clear, confident coaching on HR processes, employment law fundamentals, and best practice to help leaders make informed decisions.
Organisational design & change: Support change programmes with sensitivity and structure, ensuring communication and people impacts are handled thoughtfully.
Recruitment support: Partner with key stakeholders to support recruitment planning, onboarding, and improving candidate and hiring experiences.
Data & insight: Use HR metrics to identify trends, measure impact, and recommend improvements to enhance workforce experience and performance.
Compliance & governance: Help ensure HR practices meet legal and regulatory expectations, with consistent documentation and robust processes.

What we’re looking for

You don’t need to be a football expert - but you do need to be a strong HR professional who can operate with confidence, discretion, and empathy. You should be at your best when working with people, influencing without ego, and solving problems in a pragmatic way.

Proven experience as an HR Business Partner, HR Advisor (with broad business exposure), or in a similar partnering role.
Strong knowledge of UK employment law and practical application in a workplace environment.
Ability to lead sensitive conversations and manage employee relations matters with professionalism and care.
Demonstrable experience of supporting managers to improve performance, attendance, and conduct outcomes.
Comfortable translating HR strategy into tangible actions, with a structured and organised approach.
Strong communication skills - able to adapt your style for different stakeholders and keep information clear.
Experience using HR systems and data to drive insight, not just reporting.
A proactive mindset with the confidence to challenge constructively and propose solutions.

Why this role matters

In elite sport and in high-performing workplaces, people are the difference. This role exists to make sure teams have what they need to thrive: fair processes, effective guidance, and HR support that is timely, credible, and consistent. You’ll help create conditions where individuals can perform at their best - supported by an approach that reflects the standards of a historic football club and the ambition to go further.

Just as importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to influence the culture behind the scenes - where trust, professionalism, and respect are not just values on a page, but behaviours that shape everyday working life.

How you’ll work

You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, managers, and HR colleagues.
You’ll balance strategic responsibilities with hands-on casework and day-to-day advisory support.
You’ll keep matters moving - managing priorities in a way that reflects operational realities and timelines.

What you can expect from us

A Club culture that values professionalism, integrity, and teamwork.
Support to help you deliver effectively and improve how HR works across the organisation.
The chance to make a visible difference - helping managers lead with confidence and fairness.
Competitive salary, Pension scheme and life assurance for all permanent staff.
Free onsite parking, subsidised staff restaurant and up to 33 days of annual leave (including bank holidays)

One City. One Club. One Leicester

If you have any requirements in regard to the recruitment process, please let us know; we are happy to support your needs.

Ready to partner with ambition?

If you’re excited by the challenge of HR partnering in a dynamic environment and you want your work to make a real impact on people and performance, we’d encourage you to apply.

Next steps: Please submit your application, including a supporting statement explaining why you’re interested in the HR Business Partner role and how your experience matches the requirements above.
