Humanities Teacher
Location: Gloucester
Temporary, Full-time
We are recruiting for a full-time Humanities Teacher to join a secondary school in Gloucester from after October half term through to Christmas. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching History and Geography across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a greater emphasis on History. Full teaching responsibilities are required throughout the assignment.
The school is looking for a teacher who can bring their subject to life in the classroom, challenge students to think critically, and maintain high expectations for learning and behaviour. This is a full teaching role within an established Humanities department and would suit both experienced teachers and strong ECTs.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and delivering high-quality History and Geography lessons.
- Creating engaging learning experiences that promote student progress and achievement.
- Assessing, monitoring, and recording student attainment and progress.
- Providing constructive feedback to students to support their development.
- Differentiating lessons to meet the needs of all learners.
- Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
- Preparing students for examinations and assessments where required.
- Attending departmental meetings, parents' evenings, and school events as required.
- Contributing to the wider school community and promoting a positive learning environment.
- Maintaining accurate records and completing all associated marking and administrative duties.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching History and/or Humanities within a secondary school setting.
- The ability to teach Geography at Key Stage 3 and 4.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
