MTrec Technical are proudly representing our prestigious manufacturing client, based near Washington by recruiting a permanent IT Support Engineer. You will be joining an industry leading company, with an excellent team-based culture and fantastic long-term career prospects.

The Job You’ll Do;

  • Carry out daily IT checks and routine maintenance, including backup verification, log reviews, and visual inspections of server rooms.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve software and hardware issues, identifying appropriate solutions to minimise disruption.
  • Manage, resolve, and escalate IT incidents and change requests through the IT Service Desk system.
  • Install, configure, and deploy new IT hardware and software, ensuring compliance with licensing requirements.
  • Provide IT support for new starters and leavers, including the setup and relocation of PCs, telephones, and workstations.
  • Ensure all PCs, laptops, and servers are patched within the required compliance timeframes.
  • Deliver IT projects as assigned by management and provide technical support to other departments where required.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with applicable legislation, regulations, and industry requirements.
  • Support the organisation in maintaining relevant certifications and compliance standards, including ISO 27001.
  • Undertake out-of-hours IT support when required to assist with project delivery and business continuity.
  • Liaise with key external suppliers and raise support calls when specialist assistance is required.
  • Provide support for MES and ERP systems, including the development and maintenance of reports.
  • Install and terminate network cabling and undertake cable runs as required, with IPAF 3A/3B training provided.
  • Ensure compliance with company IT policies, procedures, and security standards.
  • Attend and actively participate in IT security and awareness training programmes.
  • Identify and report non-conformances and information security incidents

About You;

Proven experience working in an IT role, such as IT Support Engineer or similar

Strong knowledge of Windows desktop and server operating systems

Experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Group Policy, and network troubleshooting

Experience installing servers and supporting server migrations

Knowledge of networking and firewall technologies

Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V

Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail

Self-motivated with a proactive, can-do attitude

Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Educated to a minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent)

SQL knowledge/experience
