Job description

Junior HR Business Partner

Salary: £45,000 Location: South end on Sea

Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days home) - Initially you will be in the office 5 days a week whilst you are embedding into the business

Full Time | 37.5 hours per week

Are you an experienced HR generalist who enjoys being close to the business, solving complex people challenges and using data to drive better decisions?

We're looking for a Junior HR Business Partner to join a highly regulated, technology-led organisation where people, innovation and continuous improvement sit at the heart of the business.

You will be the main site contact supporting approximately 150 employees across the organisation, but you will report into a Head of HR based based at another location. You'll be a trusted partner to managers, providing expert guidance across the full employee lifecycle, while helping the business make informed, evidence-based people decisions. This role would suit a strong HR Advisor ready to step into a broader business partnering position, or an existing Junior HRBP looking for greater ownership and exposure.

The Opportunity

Working closely with leaders across the business, you'll provide operational and strategic HR support across employee relations, absence management, organisational development, employee engagement, people analytics and workforce planning.

You'll be comfortable managing complex and sensitive ER issues, challenging when necessary, and providing balanced, commercially sound advice. You'll also play a key role in analysing workforce data and identifying trends to support decision making and drive business performance.

As a business that embraces technology and AI tools, we're looking for someone who is naturally curious about innovation and comfortable leveraging modern systems, software and automation to improve processes and ways of working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary HR contact for managers and employees across the business
  • Manage a varied ER caseload including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance matters
  • Work closely with Occupational Health providers to support employee wellbeing and absence management
  • Coach and challenge managers to ensure fair, consistent and legally compliant people decisions
  • Review complex people situations, identify risks and recommend practical solutions
  • Analyse people data and workforce trends to provide actionable insights
  • Produce reports and recommendations relating to areas such as attrition, absence, engagement and organisational performance
  • Support organisational change, employee engagement and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assist with reward activities, salary benchmarking and benefits administration
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Support the business in maximising the use of HR systems, technology and AI-enabled tools

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience within a HR Advisor, Senior HR Advisor or Junior HR Business Partner role
  • Strong generalist HR experience within a fast-paced environment
  • Proven employee relations experience covering disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance management
  • Strong understanding of UK employment legislation
  • Ability to confidently challenge and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience using workforce data and people analytics to support decision making
  • Ability to identify patterns, trends and root causes and provide commercially focused recommendations
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills
  • Comfortable working independently and managing competing priorities
  • Experience using HR systems, technology and AI tools to improve efficiency and decision making

Why Join?

  • Genuine business partnering exposure
  • Opportunity to shape and influence people practices
  • Technology-led environment embracing innovation and AI
  • Broad standalone role with significant ownership
  • Hybrid working model
  • Collaborative and supportive culture
