KS3 SENCO - Watford

Location: Watford, Hertfordshire
Daily Rate: From £183 per day, dependent on experience
Start: ASAP
Contract: Full-Time
Position: KS3 SENCO

Prospero Teaching are working with a secondary school in Watford who are looking to appoint an experienced KS3 SENCO to take responsibility for SEND provision across Years 7, 8 and 9.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SENCO, Assistant SENCO or SEND leader looking to take ownership of KS3 provision while working closely alongside the school's whole-school SENCO.



The Role

You will take the lead on SEND provision throughout KS3, including:

  • Coordinating SEND support across Years 7-9
  • Managing and reviewing EHCPs, SEN Support and Provision Plans
  • Leading the Assess, Plan, Do, Review (APDR) process
  • Monitoring the progress, attendance and engagement of pupils with SEND
  • Coordinating targeted SEND interventions
  • Leading and contributing to EHCP Annual Reviews
  • Supporting applications for Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments
  • Working closely with parents, carers and external professionals
  • Supporting teachers with adaptive teaching and reasonable adjustments
  • Supporting Access Arrangements and gathering evidence of students' normal way of working
  • Leading SEND transition from Year 6 into Year 7
  • Line managing and supporting designated Learning Support Assistants
  • Deputising for the SENCO where appropriate

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCP processes, Section F provision and statutory SEND responsibilities. MyNewTerm



Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • NASENCO or NPQ SENCO qualification
  • Strong experience working with pupils with a range of SEND
  • Experience supporting pupils with EHCPs and SEN Support
  • Good working knowledge of APDR
  • Successful teaching experience within a school
  • Strong knowledge of current SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice

Secondary and KS3 experience would be particularly advantageous, alongside experience of managing support staff, Annual Reviews, Access Arrangements and Year 6-7 transition.
