Managing Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering – Leicestershire – c£86k + Package
If you’ve reached the point in your commercial career where you want to lead a team rather than simply manage a larger workload, this could be a very good move. I’m working with a successful, family-run civil engineering contractor looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to take responsibility for an established commercial team and a business unit turning over approximately £40m per year.
You’ll lead a team of seven Quantity Surveyors working across a varied portfolio of highways, infrastructure, bridgeworks and public realm projects throughout the Midlands and East of England. Alongside overseeing the commercial performance of the projects, you’ll work closely with the senior management team, providing commercial direction, supporting and developing your QSs and helping shape the continued growth of the division.
The company has built an excellent reputation within civil engineering and, despite its growth, has remained a family-run business with many of the values that come with that. People tend to be developed for the long term, there is a strong emphasis on doing things properly and they have built lasting relationships with clients through the quality of their work. They’re also an award-winning contractor with a strong pipeline ahead, so this isn’t a role where you’ll inherit a team and immediately be wondering where their next projects are coming from.
They are looking for someone with a strong civil engineering background who has already managed or mentored commercial teams and is comfortable operating at a more senior level with clients, operational management and directors. In return, you’ll be joining a financially secure contractor where the role carries real responsibility and gives you the opportunity to put your own stamp on how the commercial team develops.
