Mechanically skilled, electrically capable, and tired of maintenance roles that quietly expect you to be everything to everyone?
Join a stable Coventry manufacturer on permanent day shifts, earn up to £40,000, finish early every Friday, and receive genuine investment in your training and qualifications.
This is a hands-on mechanical maintenance role, not an electrical job wearing a misleading title.
Positions Available: 2 x Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineers (Mechanically Biased)

Some maintenance roles advertise themselves as “mechanically biased” and then hand you a laptop, point at a PLC and expect miracles.
This one is genuinely mechanical.
An established, family-owned manufacturer in Coventry is recruiting two Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineers to join its engineering team.
You’ll be joining a stable manufacturing business employing more than 1,000 people, with turnover exceeding £200 million and products supplied to customers across more than 70 countries.
What’s in it for you?
Salary of £38,000 – £40,000 per annum, depending on experience
Permanent Monday to Friday day shifts with an early finish every Friday
Annual salary reviews
Annual performance-related bonus
23 days’ holiday plus bank holidays and a Christmas shutdown

Your working hours:
There are two permanent day shift patterns available.

Friday: 7:00am – 2:45pm
Shift Two:
Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 5:00pm

No rotating days and nights. No permanent afternoon shift. You’ll finish early enough on a Friday to remember that weekends are supposed to exist.
What will you be maintaining?
The Coventry site manufactures products used across commercial, industrial and logistics buildings.
You’ll work across a broad mix of modern and older production equipment, including conveyors, bandsaws, gearboxes, rollers and shafts, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, resin silos, waterjet cutters, thermoforming and moulding equipment, CNC machinery, lathes, milling machines and Mitsubishi PLCs.
You may also work with process heating, plumbing and gas systems.
With such a varied range of machinery on site, the role needs somebody who can properly investigate a fault rather than repeatedly pressing reset and hoping the machine has learned its lesson.
What will you be doing?
This is primarily a core maintenance position, with responsibilities including:
Attending machinery breakdowns and carrying out mechanical repairs
Completing planned and preventative maintenance
Carrying out basic electrical fault finding
Diagnosing hydraulic and pneumatic faults
Investigating recurring breakdowns using 5 Why and root cause analysis
Developing solutions to prevent repeat faults
Refurbishing and improving machinery, including basic fabrication and welding
Recording completed maintenance work and spare parts used
There may also be opportunities to support improvement work, but this is not a project engineering position dressed up as maintenance.
What experience do you need?
The business is looking for somebody with a strong mechanical maintenance background.
Ideally, you will have experience with:
Mechanical maintenance, fault finding and repairs
Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Basic electrical fault finding
Reading engineering drawings and schematic diagrams
Planned and reactive maintenance
Safe isolation procedures
Basic fabrication, welding or machinery refurbishment
You should also be comfortable working independently, managing your own workload and approaching faults logically.
An engineering apprenticeship, BTEC or NVQ Level 3 qualification would normally be expected.
Experience with machine tools, CNC machinery, Mitsubishi PLCs, SCADA systems, milling or turning would be useful, but it is not essential.
The manager is not looking for somebody who knows everything already. The company is willing to invest in training where somebody has the right mechanical foundation and attitude.
What is the working environment like?
You’ll join an established maintenance team made up of engineers with a variety of different skillsets.
The manager wants somebody who is comfortable taking ownership of a breakdown or maintenance task rather than relying on engineers permanently working in pairs.
You’ll still have support from the wider team, but you must be confident assessing a problem, deciding what needs to happen and getting on with it safely.
The interview process
The recruitment process takes place across two stages.
You can expect a full tour of the Coventry manufacturing site, the opportunity to see the machinery and working environment, introductions to members of the engineering team, situational and experience-based questions, and a practical maintenance assessment.
This gives you the chance to properly assess the company, team and role before making any decisions.
