Employment Status: Permanent
Schedule: Full-Time, 47.5 Hours per Week (Monday through Friday) plus participation in an on-call rota and a full UK driving license requirement

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced, qualified Air-Conditioning Engineer to join our facilities team in Leicester. As an Air-Conditioning Engineer, you will enjoy a high degree of daily independence while being backed by a supportive, collaborative group of professionals. If you thrive in a dynamic environment where variety is the norm and you are trusted to manage your schedule autonomously, this Air-Conditioning Engineer position is an excellent opportunity to grow your career with long-term stability and a focus on safety.

Core Responsibilities

  • You will uphold stringent health and safety protocols to ensure all completed tasks strictly adhere to regulatory and company standards.

  • As an Air-Conditioning Engineer, your primary technical duties involve carrying out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and small works across a diverse portfolio of commercial retail sites.

  • In addition, this Air-Conditioning Engineer role requires diagnosing faults and repairing a range of HVAC systems, including splits, VRFs, AHUs, DX systems, and occasional central plant.

  • You will maintain strict FGAS compliance records and update internal reporting systems accurately.

  • As an active Air-Conditioning Engineer, you will perform general building maintenance, including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and minor fabrication.

  • You will utilize mobile technology like tablets and internal systems to efficiently manage, update, and close work orders.

  • Furthermore, an Air-Conditioning Engineer will partner smoothly with planners, colleagues, and store managers, complete administrative tasks, support operational objectives, and take a turn on an on-call rota.

Candidate Requirements and Qualifications

  • To qualify for this Air-Conditioning Engineer position, you must hold an NVQ Level 2 in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration as a minimum requirement.

  • You need to hold a valid F-Gas Certification (C&G 2079 – Category 1).

  • We require proven knowledge of air conditioning systems and general mechanical building services, alongside experience working in a retail, commercial, or multi-site maintenance environment.

  • You should possess proven multi-trade capability covering general building upkeep beyond core HVAC work.

  • Candidates must have strong fault-finding and repair skills, paired with a proactive and customer-focused approach.

  • Clear verbal and written interpersonal skills are essential for effective interaction with customers and colleagues.

  • You will need a flexible mindset driven by a commitment to continuous learning and a full UK driving license.
