Position: Operations and Projects Engineer
Location: Blaenavon, South Wales
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000
Working Arrangement: Site based

The Operations and Projects Engineer position is required in Blaenavon, South Wales for our client, a specialist engineering and manufacturing business operating within a larger international engineering group.
This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer with a background in project engineering, manufacturing or production engineering to take responsibility for engineering projects from design through to manufacture and delivery. The role will combine project engineering, production coordination, technical support, quality and continuous improvement, working closely with the design and production teams.
Operations and Projects Engineer Job Overview
- Lead and coordinate engineering projects from initial design through manufacture, testing and final delivery
- Monitor project schedules, resources, costs and delivery requirements
- Work closely with the design team and production supervisor to ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification
- Coordinate manufacturing activities across fabrication, welding, machining, fitting and assembly
- Plan and monitor production, inspection and testing activities
- Review engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Provide technical support to engineering and production teams
- Assist with design-for-manufacture reviews and pre-production checks
- Coordinate materials, suppliers and resources required for project delivery
- Support quotations, tenders and project cost estimates where required
- Liaise with customers, suppliers and third-party inspectors throughout project delivery
- Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), inspections and associated technical documentation
- Investigate and resolve manufacturing, quality and technical issues
- Support ISO 9001 quality requirements and continuous improvement activities
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, efficiency and manufacturing processes
- Work closely with production and engineering personnel to ensure effective project delivery
- Provide guidance and technical support to colleagues where required
- Ensure appropriate health, safety and environmental standards are maintained across engineering and manufacturing activities
Operations and Projects Engineer Job Requirements
- Previous experience in a Project Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Production Engineer, Operations Engineer or similar engineering/manufacturing position
- Strong engineering background within a manufacturing, fabrication, machining or fitting environment
- Experience managing or coordinating engineering projects from design through to manufacture and delivery
- Good understanding of engineering drawings, specifications and manufacturing processes
- Experience coordinating production schedules, resources and project requirements
- Experience working with materials including mild/carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium and other non-ferrous materials
- Good understanding of quality requirements and manufacturing inspection processes
- Knowledge of relevant engineering standards and regulations, with experience of ATEX and/or PED advantageous
- Understanding of ISO 9001 and continuous improvement principles
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Confident dealing with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Practical, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively with engineering and production teams
- Engineering degree or equivalent demonstrable engineering/manufacturing experience
Operations and Projects Engineer Salary & Benefits
- £40,000 - £45,000 depending on experience
- Monday to Thursday: 7:30am - 4:00pm
- Friday: 7:30am - 12:00pm
- Monday to Friday, site-based position
- Group profit-related bonus scheme
- Permanent position
