Tamar Roofing & Building Services Ltd is a growing roofing and building contractor based in Plymouth. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced, organised and driven Operations Manager to take control of the day-to-day running of our roofing operations.
This is a key management position within the business. We need someone who can keep the office, surveyor, roofing teams, subcontractors and suppliers working together efficiently while ensuring our customers receive a professional service from initial enquiry through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the business.
- Coordinate roofing teams and ensure jobs are properly scheduled and resourced.
- Liaise with our surveyor regarding surveys, quotations, accepted work and upcoming projects.
- Maintain and manage the company diary and job schedule.
- Contact roofing teams daily for progress updates and identify any problems or delays.
- Ensure materials, scaffolding, skips and subcontractors are organised ahead of each project.
- Oversee the process from an accepted quotation through deposit, scheduling and completion.
- Monitor job progress, labour allocation and project timescales.
- Maintain accurate CRM and job records.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding start dates, progress and completion.
- Work closely with the Director on workload, staffing and business performance.
- Help improve company systems, procedures and SOPs as the business continues to grow.
- Ensure completed projects are closed off correctly and passed through for final invoicing.
- Support health & safety, compliance and documentation requirements.
- Hold the team accountable while maintaining a positive and professional working environment.
The Person We’re Looking For
You will need to be highly organised, confident and proactive, with the ability to manage several live projects at the same time.
Previous experience in construction, roofing, building, trades or a similar operational environment would be a major advantage.
You should be comfortable speaking with customers, tradespeople, suppliers and subcontractors and be capable of making decisions without needing constant supervision.
