Job description

Packing & Dispatch Operative

Location: West Thurrock
Salary: £27,642 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

We are currently recruiting for a Packing & Dispatch Operative to join a well-established manufacturing business based in West Thurrock.

This is a hands-on position working across packing, dispatch, production and raw material handling, with a strong focus on health and safety, quality and maintaining an efficient production operation.



The Role

As a Packing & Dispatch Operative, you will be responsible for:

  • Operating big bagging, packing and mixing plant equipment.
  • Loading bulk materials onto lorries, containers and tautliners.
  • Operating the packing plant and using HMI systems to identify and diagnose faults.
  • Receiving raw materials and transferring them into silos.
  • Removing finished goods pallets from the palletiser and moving them into the correct stock locations.
  • Ensuring the palletiser has a continuous supply of pallets and packaging materials.
  • Carrying out finished goods and raw material sampling where required.
  • Completing production, quality, safety, environmental and dispatch records.
  • Keeping stock records and spreadsheets up to date.
  • Carrying out visual checks of raw materials against reference samples.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
  • Following all site health and safety procedures.
  • Supporting continuous improvement across the production and dispatch operation.


About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • A valid Forklift Truck Licence.
  • Experience operating packing, big bagging or mixing plant equipment.
  • Experience using HMI systems for fault diagnosis.
  • Previous experience loading lorries, containers or tautliners.
  • Experience within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
  • An understanding of quality checks, product specifications and raw material verification.
  • Experience with production records, stock control and data entry.
  • A good understanding of health and safety procedures.
  • A proactive approach to maintaining a clean and efficient working environment.
  • The ability to work reliably as part of a wider production and dispatch team.
