Are you an experienced payroll professional ready to take the next step into a Payroll Supervisor role?

The hours of work are Monday to Thursday 8.30 to 5pm and 4.30pm on Fridays.

My client is currently recruiting for a Payroll Supervisor to join a well-established organisation, overseeing the accurate and timely processing of weekly and monthly payrolls while supporting and supervising the payroll team.

This is a hands-on role for someone who combines strong technical payroll knowledge with excellent organisation, communication and people-management skills.

The Role:

As Payroll Supervisor, you will take responsibility for the end-to-end processing of payrolls, ensuring accuracy, compliance and excellent service to clients and employees.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising and supporting the payroll team to ensure payrolls are processed accurately and on time.
  • Processing weekly and monthly payrolls from start to finish using COINS payroll software.
  • Checking payroll calculations and ensuring all payroll information is accurately entered.
  • Managing statutory payments and deductions, including Student Loans and Court Orders.
  • Processing holiday and sickness absence and calculating relevant leave entitlement.
  • Managing Auto-Enrolment pensions and calculating pension contributions.
  • Completing RTI/FPS submissions and dealing with HMRC queries.
  • Calculating pro-rata, daily and hourly rates, including term-time-only employees.
  • Supporting payroll year-end procedures and P60s.
  • Ensuring payroll processes remain compliant with current legislation.
  • Reviewing payroll information and carrying out appropriate checks before submission.
  • Providing guidance, support and training to members of the payroll team.
  • Helping to identify and implement improvements to payroll processes and procedures.

About You:

We are looking for an experienced payroll professional who is confident supervising a team while remaining hands-on with the day-to-day processing.

You will ideally have:

  • Extensive payroll experience, ideally within a bureau or client-focused environment.
  • Proven experience processing weekly and monthly payrolls end-to-end.
  • Previous supervisory or people-management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and statutory deductions.
  • Experience with RTI/FPS, HMRC, pensions and year-end procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • The ability to manage workloads, meet deadlines and prioritise effectively.
  • COINS payroll/ERP experience would be advantageous, although training will be provided on the company's in-house systems.

What we are looking for:

You will be someone who is technically strong in payroll but also enjoys leading and supporting a team.

You will be confident dealing with payroll queries, checking the work of others and ensuring deadlines are consistently met. Most importantly, you'll have a strong eye for detail and take pride in delivering an accurate, professional payroll service.

Benefits you will receive:

  • 25 days annual leave (plus bank hols)
  • Pension Scheme
  • Single health cover
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Reward Discount Scheme
