Learning Support Assistant

Location: Newham

Are you a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant looking to gain valuable experience working with children and young people with additional needs? A supportive special school in Newham is seeking a caring, patient and enthusiastic Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join its dedicated team as a Learning Support Assistant.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant who is passionate about child development, education and supporting pupils to reach their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to provide individual and small-group support within a welcoming special school in Newham.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with a range of additional learning needs.
  • Work alongside teachers to help pupils access the curriculum.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support.
  • Encourage pupils' communication, confidence, independence and social development.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Support classroom activities and contribute to a safe, inclusive environment.

About You

We are looking for a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant with a genuine interest in supporting children and young people. A Psychology degree or related qualification would be highly desirable, although candidates with relevant experience and a strong passion for working in specialist education are also encouraged to apply.

This role would suit a graduate considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, child development, therapy or specialist education. Previous experience with children or young people is advantageous but not essential.
