Quality Control Engineer/Inspector – Plymouth

Land & Sea Resources are currently recruiting for an experienced Quality Control Engineer/Inspector to join a major nuclear capital programme based at Devonport, Plymouth.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quality Control Engineer/Inspector in Plymouth to join a Quality Control Department and provide civil quality oversight across the full project lifecycle.

Role: Quality Control Engineer/Inspector
Location: Plymouth, Devon
Sector: Nuclear / Civil / Construction
Shift: 4 days on / 4 days off
Hours: 7:00pm – 5:30am once moved onto nights
Initial shift: First month on days before moving onto nights
Clearance: Ability to obtain SC Clearance

Pay and Benefits:

  • Monday–Thursday: 1.33x rate
  • Friday–Sunday: 2x rate
  • Expenses claimable on top of the rate
  • South-based candidates preferred, although candidates further afield may be considered

Quality Control Engineer/Inspector – Plymouth

The Quality Control Engineer/Inspector will provide project civil oversight of quality-related activities throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities for the Quality Control Engineer/Inspector will include:

  • Carrying out QC inspections in accordance with specifications and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Attending Kick-Off Meetings and Pre-Inspection Production Meetings where required.
  • Monitoring compliance with approved procedures, Quality Plans, ITPs and technical requirements.
  • Reviewing drawings and ensuring dimensional reports verify critical parameters.
  • Witnessing inspection, testing, Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests.
  • Ensuring inspection and test equipment is appropriately calibrated and compliant with contractual requirements.
  • Ensuring inspection findings are reported, corrected and verified.
  • Producing daily and weekly Inspection Reports and reporting progress to the Quality Engineer / Quality Manager.
  • Ensuring Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs) are generated and verified throughout manufacturing and site activities.
  • Carrying out Final Inspection and issuing Certificates of Release where required.
  • Completing Contract Close Out Reports where applicable.

Essential Experience:

  • Previous experience in quality and/or inspection within construction projects.
  • Previous experience in civil construction.
  • Ability to obtain SC Clearance.
  • Ability to understand civil standards, specifications and technical drawings.
  • Civil Engineering qualification or suitable relevant experience.

Desirable Experience:

  • Nuclear or MOD experience.
  • Experience working on large, complex construction projects.
  • ISO 9001 Auditor qualification.
  • HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or similar.
  • CSCS Card.
  • Microsoft Office experience.
