You will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the service, including leading and motivating staff, managing resources and ensuring the home operates in full compliance with CQC standards, legislation and relevant regulations.

You will also contribute to the wider development of prevention, health and social care services across Halton, supporting directorate objectives and continuous service improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to workforce planning, recruitment and staff development, including induction, training, supervision and appraisal.
  • Promote robust safeguarding practices, risk assessments and health and safety compliance.
  • Ensure the service remains up to date with relevant legislation, policies, CQC requirements and best practice.
  • Manage and resolve complaints in line with Council procedures.
  • Monitor budgets, support performance reporting and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with CQC, regulators and external agencies.
  • Chair practice meetings, provide professional advice and lead on defined areas of the service.
  • Deputise for the Principal Manager when required.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role.

About You

You will be an experienced care professional with a relevant professional qualification such as BASW, DipSW, CQSW, DipCOT or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role. You will have demonstrable post-qualification experience and a strong track record of management within a health or adult social care setting.

You will also have:

  • Experience of staff supervision, support and performance management.
  • The ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • A strong understanding of current legislation, standards and best practice within adult social care.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Adult Protection and safeguarding procedures.
  • Experience of creating and managing staff rotas.
  • Experience of supporting and managing change.
  • A good understanding of risk assessment and risk management planning.
  • Knowledge of person-centred and asset-based approaches to care.
  • An understanding of anti-oppressive and anti-discriminatory practice.
  • Confidence working across professional boundaries and disciplines.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours where required, including regular weekend cover.

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential, as the role involves regular travel across the borough and, occasionally, further afield. Reasonable adjustments will be considered in accordance with the Equality Act.
