Reliability Engineer - Rolling Stock

Location: Derbyshire

Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 per annum

Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 4:00pm
Friday: 8:00am - 1:00pm
37 hours per week

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Reliability Engineer to join a well-established rolling stock engineering organisation based in Derby. This is a customer-facing role focused on improving fleet reliability, reducing in-service failures, and supporting the day-to-day availability of trains.

Working closely with Field Service Engineers, Quality and Controls teams, you will act as the technical link between the customer and the wider engineering function, ensuring reliability issues are investigated and resolved effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Support Field Service Engineers with technical reliability issues.
Manage and contribute to the FRACAS (Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System) process.
Investigate in-service failures and identify root causes.
Drive reliability improvement initiatives across the fleet.
Analyse maintenance and operational data to identify trends.
Review and interpret oil sample analysis where applicable.
Liaise directly with customers, providing technical support and updates.
Work closely with Quality and Controls teams to implement corrective actions.
Produce technical reports and recommendations.
Support the day-to-day reliability and availability of trains in service.

About You

We're looking for someone with:

Previous experience in a Rolling Stock Reliability Engineering role.
Strong understanding of reliability investigations and failure analysis.
Experience of the FRACAS process or similar reliability methodologies.
Excellent communication skills with the confidence to work directly with customers.
A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline is preferred but not essential.

Candidates with reliability experience gained within rolling stock depots, fleet maintenance or diesel engine environments are also encouraged to apply.
