School Cleaner
Locations: Manchester, Oldham
Hours: 12.5–15 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday–Friday, after school
Contract: Term-time, with additional holiday deep-clean opportunities
Pay: Competitive rates depending on location and experience
DBS: Enhanced DBS on the Update Service required, or willing to obtain one
We are currently recruiting School Cleaners to work across a number of primary and secondary academies.
This is an excellent opportunity for reliable and hardworking cleaners looking for part-time, term-time work within a school environment.
Locations
The Role
Working as part of the school site team and reporting to the Site Manager, you will help maintain a clean, safe and hygienic environment for pupils and staff.
Duties will include:
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting and polishing.
- Cleaning classrooms, corridors, halls, toilets and other school areas.
- Emptying bins and maintaining high standards of hygiene.
- Using cleaning equipment, including powered floor-cleaning equipment where required.
- Reporting hazards, damage, blockages and other maintenance issues to the site team.
- Supporting holiday deep cleans, including cleaning floors, walls, tables and chairs and high-level dusting.
- Moving furniture when required as part of deep-cleaning duties.
- Following health & safety procedures when using cleaning products and equipment.
Working Hours
The roles are generally 12.5–15 hours per week, Monday to Friday, after school.
Typical patterns may include:
- 3:15pm–5:45pm
- 3:00pm–6:00pm
There may also be opportunities for:
- Additional hours to cover staff absence.
- Holiday deep-clean work, including February half term and summer cleaning periods.
- Overtime for agreed holiday cleaning.
We are looking for candidates who are:
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Able to work well alongside school and site staff.
- Physically able to push trolleys, lift bins and move furniture when required.
- Experienced in cleaning, although full school-cleaning experience is not essential as training can be provided.
- Commercial or industrial cleaning experience is advantageous.
- Aware of basic health & safety and safe use of cleaning products.
Essential Requirements
- Enhanced DBS on Update Service, or willing to obtain one.
- Fluent spoken English.
- Reliable transport or an easy commute to the school, as these are short after-school shifts.
- A professional and responsible approach to working in a school environment.
