SEN Teacher - Secondary / Sixth Form
Central Derby | Full-time
Being in sixth form doesn’t mean every student has finished with GCSE-level learning. For some, it’s the right time to make progress with a teacher who can help things click.
We’re recruiting a full-time SEN Teacher at a Sixth Form centre as part of a Secondary School in central Derby. You’ll work with young people studying at GCSE level who need teaching adapted to their individual needs.
We’re looking for someone comfortable teaching across all or most subjects, rather than working solely within one specialism. You’ll need to make lessons accessible and keep students engaged across a varied timetable.
There is also the option to take on planning and marking responsibilities, which we can discuss with you.
The school needs someone who can get started quickly and understand where each student needs support. Your job is to help them make progress towards those goals, with clear expectations and encouragement they can believe in.
You could come from a secondary, sixth-form or specialist teaching background. What matters is:
You have a QTS certificate (desirable)
Teach confidently across a broad range of subjects at GCSE level.
Adapt your approach without lowering expectations.
Build trust and establish purposeful classroom routines.
Help students recognise their progress and see where their learning can take them.
Interested? Apply and/or contact Jamie on (phone number removed) to discuss the role and the level of responsibility you’re looking for.
