Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant, Leicester: Support Students Long-Term

In September, a student couldn’t ask for help. By November, they point to the card on their desk, or put their hand up. You were there for every step in between. That’s what staying in one role makes possible. You get to watch a student change, and you know you were part of it.

Are you a Teaching Assistant in or around Leicester who wants a full-time, long-term role supporting students with additional needs? We work with a range of schools, so we’d love to discuss what you’re looking for and see how we can help.

What you’ll do

  • Support students with autism, speech and language needs, communication difficulties, SEMH and ADHD
  • Work 1:1 and in small groups, breaking learning into steps each student can manage
  • Work out what a student’s behaviour is telling you, and respond with patience rather than pressure
  • Help students build the confidence to try, get it wrong, and try again
  • Support students through changes of room, lesson or routine, so change feels less overwhelming
  • Stay consistent day to day, so students know what to expect from you
  • Share what’s working with teachers and the SENCO so students get the same approach across the school

What you’ll need

  • A degree in child psychology, psychology or a related subject, or a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Or at least 6 months’ experience supporting students with additional needs in a UK school
  • Curiosity about why students behave the way they do, and patience when progress is slow
  • Ideally, availability for full-time, term-time work
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one

What we offer
Full-time, long-term placements and daily rates paid weekly. Some schools offer training in areas like autism or behaviour support, but it varies, so your dedicated consultant will tell you what’s available at each school.

Why Sprint?

If you’re passionate about supporting students with additional needs in a role where you can build consistency and see the impact of your work every day, that’s exactly what we do.
