Location: Loughborough
Salary: £48,000 - £55,000 per annum
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday: 07:00 - 16:00, Friday: 07:00 - 13:00

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior CNC 5-Axis Programmer & Technical Lead to join a well-established precision engineering company specialising in high-value aerospace and security components. This is a technically focused position suited to a highly skilled CNC professional with strong 5-axis programming experience and a background working within regulated manufacturing environments.

The successful candidate will play a key role in taking projects from engineering drawings through to finished machined components while supporting continuous improvement and technical development across the shop floor, specifically working on Doosan CNC milling machines.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce advanced offline programs for 5-axis simultaneous machining using OneCNC CAD/CAM software
• Set, operate and optimise Doosan CNC milling machines with Fanuc 31i-B and Heidenhain TNC 640 controls
• Interpret complex engineering drawings and customer CAD models to develop efficient machining strategies
• Manage CNC programs, CAD files, tooling data and manufacturing documentation on the company server
• Work to tight tolerances and ensure compliance with AS9100 aerospace quality standards and traceability requirements
• Identify and resolve machining issues including tooling, programming errors and process improvements
• Support and mentor shop floor staff, sharing technical knowledge and best practices
• Collaborate closely with engineering, quality and production departments to ensure right-first-time manufacture
• Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy and documentation control throughout the manufacturing process

About You

• Extensive experience programming and setting 5-axis CNC milling machines
• Strong experience working on Doosan machining centres
• Strong working knowledge of OneCNC CAD/CAM software
• Experience with Fanuc and/or Heidenhain controls
• Background within aerospace, precision engineering or high-specification manufacturing environments
• Good understanding of AS9100 standards and quality procedures
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and CAD models
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Leadership or mentoring experience within a machine shop environment desirable
